Malcolm Bray
Personal trainer and Martial Arts Instructor
Malcolm has worked in the fitness industry, since leaving the army in 1999. He started out working in the corporate leisure industry for the Daily Mirror Newspaper in Canary Wharf, and then transfered to LA Fitness when Malcolm and his family relocated to Newbury. Malcolm then took on the role as the head of the fitness department as part of the occupational therapist team for The Priory before starting FreeflowFTM.
Malcolm started training in martial arts at age 6 and has studied various martial arts over the last 25 years, including Taekwondo, Karate, Laugar Kung Fu, Wing Chun, Kickboxing, Shen chi do, and Kapitiran Arnis. He has been teaching martial arts for many years, focusing mainly on Warrior Arts which is based on Pencak Silat (the Indonesian art of self defence) for the last 7 years.
For the last few years Malcolm has been working with the west berkshire school support partnership, providing Warrior Arts sessions. The school sessions have been a great success with positive feedback from both students and teachers. The teachers were especially surprised to find that a martial art could contain so many benefits including multi-sensory exercises, core stability, postural strength and alignment, as well as the fitness, flexibility, self-defence, and discipline that martial arts in known for. The success in schools has led me to open a class for children aged 3 - 14 years.
The Warrior Arts covers silat, thai kick boxing, meditation, yoga and drumming classes. Malcolm has taught various aspects of Warrior Arts to many people in schools, colleges, events and in his personal training sessions.
Malcolm is a member of REPS and WAKO.
