Indonesian Satria (Warrior) Yoga

Indonesian satria yoga is a component of the warrior arts. It is a system that contains both static postures and sequences of movements that are called (Jurus). The postures are based on animals and when performed as Jurus, they are combined with the hand movements that are based on natural things such as water, trees and flowers, and also the elemental breathing patterns. The movements that eventually become more dance like are achieved through a natural circular movement called the (Gelek), which translates as coil. Due to the various aspects of this style of yoga the system is taught as a syllabus that progresses from the basic static poses through to the more advanced stage which is the free flowing flower dance (Kembangan).

As with all Yoga the underlying aim is to achieve unity of mind and body. This system progresses in line with this concept, firstly by achieving a healthier body by working on the core muscles to create a strong natural posture, whilst also focusing the mind through intention and natural breathing, then progressing onto more dynamic movements using the gelek/coil to link the poses and create sequences. The Gelek works the muscles in a natural rotational way, but also acts as a method of contracting the internal organs to aid in flushing toxins through the digestive system. The aim eventually is to use the flower dance as a true expression from your soul.

Kids Warrior Arts

Ages 3 - 14. Children learn the basics of silat by taking on the spirits and movement characteristics of the four main animals - tiger, turtle, cat, and crocodile. The classes are tailored to build flexibility and fitness through a combination of fun games and disciplined training. They will not only learn to defend themsleves but also build confidence.

Kids Warrior Arts focusses on building the foundations of the satria(warrior). We teach the children to walk before they can run. The children will learn to perform the majority of the main animal (tiger, cat, turtle and crocodile) postures and movements, which include footwork, rolling, and jumping. These are all the fundimentals in self defence as they encourage the individual to escape danger and stay safe without being harmed or hurting others.

There are also lots of games that we use that make the training fun and varied, these include multi-sensory agility training, which will enhance environmental awareness as well as thinking and moving simultaneously. For example, the group may be performing a circuit which will contain various obstacles, and at certain points they will have to hit pads, perform jumps and rolls, and have to place equipment such as ping-pong balls into boxes in the correct order, all at the same time.

The Kids combat training helps build the individuals character by physically and mentally balancing mind and body. At this stage the children learn to defend themselves and avoid danger. They are encouraged not to use aggression but to be diciplined and controlled.

KICKBOXING

A well-known martial art that combines the best of the dynamic kicking techniques from the East with the fast and powerful boxing techniques of the West. Effective as a competitive sport, self defence, or just for the whole body fitness gained through the famous conditioning routines.

INDONESIAN MARTIAL ARTS

Satria fighting arts system came from the ancient martial arts of South East Asia. Used on the battlefield to defend and protect villages and nations from invading forces.

Silat Walisongo

A complete martial art system, which covers all aspects of self defence. It has grappling, striking from the ground and upright, vital points, weapons and multiple attackers-training. The advanced stages of this devastating art focus on breath control and a focused mind, achieved through meditation and breathing exercises.

Kembangan

Translated as 'the flower dance', it is the softer aspect of Silat and, over a period of time, will develop your own unique expression of the art. It is initially trained slowly to develop correct alignment, biomechanics and balance, and develops a mind that is both concentrated and focused.

Thai Kick Boxing

This class not only improves fitness to the highest level but also increases core strength, flexibility, and muscle tone throughout the body, not to mention aiding weight loss. This is achieved by working at your own level then increasing gradually. You will learn combinations of punches, kicks, elbows and knees through shadow boxing and hitting pads with a partner. This type of training speeds up reflexes and power, and is a highly functional form of self defence.
